New and promising talents for the creative multimedia industry have been discovered at this year's MSC Malaysia Intellectual Property (IP) Creators Challenge Series 2010 (MSC
Malaysia IPCC) competition.

The key objectives of the MSC Malaysia IPCC are, amongst others, to nurture new talents in content creation by turning ideas into reality and to catalyse and promote the creation of quality content that can be showcased and marketed globally.

The winners of the MSC Malaysia IPCC by were announced by Ms Ng Wan Peng , the Chief Operating Officer of the Multimedia Development Corporation, MDeC, at the MSC Malaysia IPCC announcement of winners ceremony.

WINNERS AND JUDGES OF IPCC-2010

"We are extremely pleased with the response we have received from entries this year for the IPCC 2010 Challenge. This is the fifth consecutive year that MDeC has run this event and with each passing year, the level and quality of entries received have successfully showcased that our local talents are exploring their creativity in developing digital content that is on par or exceeds world standards" said Ms Ng Wan Peng, the Chief Operating Officer of the Multimedia Development Corporation, MDeC

This year's submissions saw an increase of 32% for the 4 categories comprising of Animation, Computer Casual Games, Mobile Games and Digital Interactive Comic. 52 proposals were shortlisted to pitch ideas during the pitching event held on the 29th July, 2010.

Winners in the first three categories will each receive a RM 50,000 grant while for the fourth category, a sum of RM 20,000 awaits the winners.

A total of 26 winners were chosen from the Animation, Computer Casual Games, Mobile Games and Digital Interactive Comic categories

Animation Category

1. Title:- T.H.A.W.S (The Heroic Adventures of Wira & Samad)

Team Name:- ORANG LIDI

Synopsis:- Two abandoned baby boys found by silat master Pendekar Putat grew up very different from each other.

The elder Samad is now 20 years old. Articulate and domesticated, Samad hates violence and can't even hold up a punch right.

Pendekar Putat's hopes rest on 16 year old Wira, who through determination and hard work in practice, has become the youngest ever silat master trained by him.

2. Title:- TOK & TAPIR

Team Name:- TAPIR REKA SDN BHD

Synopsis:- Tok is an ex-military scientist who lives with a witty tapir. But Tok and Tapir is indeed an odd pair. Tok is always confident, enthusiastic and excited about things. However, due to his age, Tok is limited physically. Tapir doesn't say a word, but he is uncertain most of the time and hilariously clumsy in his every action.

3. Title:- BORNEO RENEGADES

Team Name:- BIGBEAK PICTURES (M) SDN BHD

Synopsis:- Borneo RenegadesTM is a 2D animation. It is about the fight against peoples who are destroying the Planet Earth. The eco warriors are animals which obtained their powers through a stardust that fell to the earth. Together with Grandma KebayanTM, Zhania (apprentice enchantress) and Maximus Omh aka MO (indigeneous tribe boy), they help to protect and save the Earth from further destructions.

4. Title: - AGE BLENDER

Team Name: - VITAMIN C

Synopsis:- The story start when 2 aliens arrives to earth (Stone Age) with their UFO (also a time machine) but unfortunately stuck in middle of pool and the UFO's engine can't start on top of water. The alien been saved by two Stone Age fellows (Wuma and Luma) but actually the Wuma and Luma actually tend to eat them. They start up the fire wanted to BBQ the two aliens and the UFO but somehow the fire boosts the UFO engine to start back and the two aliens now manage to fly again. The funny two Stone Age fellows only can see their food fly away. This incident gives difference perception to alien where they thought Wuma and Luma save them.

Therefore the two aliens become the age blender where they kept flying across the age to bring something as present to thank and help the tow Stone Age fellows to improve their life (hunting, eating and sleeping).

5. Title:- PAK DEMAN

Team Name:- ENERSHIA SDN BHD

Synopsis:- Pak Deman is a comedic adventure following the story of Pak Deman, a 60- year old military retiree who lives in a village. A twist of fate gives a new lease of life to Pak Deman when a chance encounter leads him to rescue Zulu, a stray tribal monkey from nearly being bulldozed in a newly cleared up land planned for urban development. From that day on, Zulu the monkey is forever grateful to Pak Deman and would not leave his side. At a time in his life where Pak Deman is deciding on his next quest, the monkey gives him an idea to earn a living by plucking coconuts and doing street performances. This gives him a chance to do some travelling which
has always been his passion in life.

6. Title:- STEAMER'S FINAL JOURNEY

Team Name:- KKYS SDN. BHD

Synopsis:- A story about an old man named Lokuman taking his two grandchildren Puni and
Sumin experiencing a steam locomotive ride as it is its last train service. The two kids's journey starts with a grandfather history lesson but then they accidentally slip back in time and stuck into their grandfather's younger year by a mystery watch belongs to Lokuman, a time travel watch. They really didn't know what they're in for nevertheless it'll be their greatest and adventurous ride of their life. Puni and Sumin will soon learn more of their grandfather's world with the steam locomotive and also Daphne a young British girl who has been in a wrong place and wrong time in the midst of a Japanese occupation in North Borneo the 1940s. Three of them are depending on the young Lokuman to take them out of harm way and way back home.

Computer Casual Games Category

1. Title:- THE ANCIENT DIARY

Team Name:- B.A.S.I.C

Summary:- This project is not a project that only for a single game development. We are looking for creating a world that has its solid setting with strong concept, the game world that everyone like, like creating a series of story book, comic or movie.

2. Title:- TVBOY

Team Name:- TEAM P

Summary:- TVboy is a 2D platformer/puzzle game made using Flash Action Script 3.0. Players will be exposed to a unique world inside a TV consisting of 80 challenging levels. Every player will have the chance to design their own level (limited features).

3. Title:- POCO POCO CHEEROCO

Team Name:- GENKEEKUN

Summary:- Poco Poco Cheerocco is a puzzle action game featuring cute and cuddly creatures locked in an intense non-violent competition filled with puzzles in a vibrantly coloured world with different environments.

4. Title:-DWING DWING'S JUNGLE

Team Name:- PRO-TECH

Summary:- Dwing Dwing's Jungle is a casual game that involves jungle spirits evolving & hatching eggs into uniquely cute elemental guardians to war against tribal creatures. Dwing Dwing's Jungle is a super fantastic Facebook game that allows you to customize your own guardians to fight for or defend your homeland against an aggressive tribe that constantly attacks until they are destroyed. You can create different types of guardians based on the treatment you give towards the neutral eggs. Different types of guardians possess different types of elements (fire, water, earth, metal and wood) which all have strengths and weaknesses against each other

5. Title:-PLANT LIFE

Team Name:- PLANT LIFE

Summary:- From a gameplay perspective, Plant Life is a time- management game. The main objective is to achieve sales targets for a succession of levels. Aesthetically, Plant Life will feature bright colours, lively sprite animations and is played on an apartment balcony with a pleasing view!

Digital Interactive Comic Category

1. Title:- FANTASI PIP KISAH SI PATUNG PARI PARI

Team Name:- SURAYA/HASYIMAH

Description:- 'Fantasia Pip: Kisah si Patung Pari-Pari' is a 70 pages interactive comic for children (focusing on the age between 12 to 18 years old). It emphasizes on cute characters that are pleasant to see with a simple storyline, and it focuses on the daily life of an ordinary little girl but with a twist and can be easily related to readers.

2. Title:- JOURNEY TO G.I.L.A

Team Name:- SPACEZOO

Description:- The concept of my story deals not only with different culture and community but also with different forms of life that we know. And of cause the different sides don't always see eye to eye, but that will in the end makes everything much more interesting.

3. Title:- MERCS

Team Name:- ANIMANGA CORPS

Description:- One good turn deserves another. But what if the favour returned is not exactly what you expect. Violence, culture, and a sprinkle of humour makes this comic a worthy read.

4. Title:- MYSTERY DELIVERY

Description:- A thriller that blends the multi-ethnics background of Malaysia set in the capital city of Kuala Lumpur. Designed to be a page turner. Incorporates moral values such as friendship and loyalty. A comic with a soundtrack and interactive games.

Team Name:- POSITIVE TOON

Description:- Goreng Pisang (Fried Banana) Boy" is a story about a unique relationship between the boy and his mother who make a living by selling fried banana. There are up and downs in their relationship but the challenge that they are facing in life make their love become stronger.

6. Title:- SAYAP

Team Name:- TANAHKARYA SDN BHD

Description:- Sayap' is a contemporary fantasy adventure, set in modern day Kuala Lumpur.
In' Sayap', characters from selected legends, myth and folk tales of Malaysia exist among normal people. In this modern setting, 'Sayap' tells the story of the seventh princess (of Tujuh
Puteri fame) named Tira Kecubung and the story of her search for her lost fairy wings.

Description:- An alternate reality action adventure story set in a post- apocalyptic future where humanity is caught in a terrible war between their creation and their own creator.

Description:- A sequential narrative with roleplaying-style storytelling set to showcase Kuala Lumpur and Malaysian youth culture.

9. Title:- DYNASTY

Team Name:- KEY STUDIOS

Description:- Four young men leave their colony planet seeking fame and fortune at the center of the universe. This is an epic space opera set in a universe billions of years in a fictitive future where technology can progress no further and society is falling apart.

10. Title:- UNITE

Team Name:- PICOLA

Description:- Superheroes are the most common element in comic books, and most of the really good superheroes got their start in the comics. Superheroes are the common glue that hold the other genres together; there can be anti-heroic superheroes, horrific superheroes, comedic superheroes, fantasy super heroes, science fiction super heroes and animal superheroes.

Mobile Games Category

1. Title:- SPACE SHIP ION

Team Name:- XFOUNDATION

Summary:- Space Ship Ion is a 2D top down view space "shooter" game similar in genre to popular classic arcade Raiden and 1942 or similar to iPhone game such as iFighter, Rosswell Fighter and Super Laser. Player pilots a space ship by using iPhone accelerometer (touchpad and touchscreen controls are available as options). The space ship flies within a fixed advancing screen while shooting down waves of different enemies, collect powerups and credit, and confront a boss at the end of each level in a total of 5 levels. After every boss fight, player can customises and upgrades the space ship weapons and parts in a weapon shop with collected credit. Unlike many mindless shooting game of similar genre, Space Ship Ion will focus on a solid story and engaging mission briefing at each level. However, the storyline briefing will be kept at minimal as not to obstruct the gameplay.

2. Title:- GASING GALOP

Team Name:- RIANGLAB

Summary:- 'GasingGalop' is inspired by the Malay traditional gasing or also known as top spinning game. It is usually played by the villagers in the east part of Malaysia during the rice harvest season. The gasing is made of either wood or hard fruits. It comes with a string, tightly bonded around a nail at the bottom of the gasing. Using that string, gasing will be thrown to the ground and leave to spin for as long as it can, but within a designated area marked as a big circle on the ground. This area is also known as the score area. Gasing's shape can vary and influence its speed and movement. Some of the famous shapes are heart-, flat-, egg- and plate- shaped.

3. Title:- DRUG BUSTERS

Team Name:- LUNA FACTORY

Summary:- The game type of the Drug Busters is 2D platform adventure game. Development platform is using Java in Android operating system platform. The testing Android platform is Android version 1.5, and will be tested on 2.0 for perfect- condition purposes.The main story background of the game is about the awareness and rejection of the drug abuse, among people especially teenagers and students, who are the most important people in the future of our country

4. Title:- NIKKI HOLIDAY AND THE PIRATE STAR

Team Name:- STUDIO 212 SDN. BHD.

Summary:- Nikki Holiday and the Pirate Star is a touch-based adventure game for the Apple iOS platform, based on an original script created by Studio 212. It consists of both exploration and battle elements, focused around the storyline. The story revolves around an up-and-coming artist (the player), facing the intricacies of dealing with the entertainment business, from inefficient management to sabotage. Throughout the game, the player will overcome one obstacle after anotherby traveling to different locations to look for clues and complete missions while uncovering the truth behind the whole situation. In between, the player will need to battle specific characters, at key points in the story. Battles are handled via a unique number-based system, with a mix of strategy and luck. The outcome of such battles would dictate the change in the storyline, ultimately leading to multiple endings, adding to its replay value.

5. Title:- MAMAK STALL GAMES

Summary:- Our objective is to produce a mobile game on the iPhone with a ‘Truly Malaysian’ flavor that most Malaysian’s can relate to. What better theme to based it on than the ever-familiar Mamak Stalls and the array of food and activities those revolve around it? We present to you the Mamak Stall Games, a compendium of mini-games wafting with the aroma of kari ikan, ghee, teh-tarik and all things popular at your local all-meal round-the-clock stall/restaurant.

The collection of games comprises of, “Mamak Cepat”, “Super Pinggan Washer” and also “Satay-Satay”. The games will be simple, fun and easy to play – arcade style. The games will also serve to introduce the Malaysian food culture to the world! At the end each game – we’ll share an interesting Malaysian “snippet” with the audience.
