SIGGRAPH Asia 2010 highlights- Courses from Blizzard and Industrial Light & Magic

The 3rd ACM SIGGRAPH Conference and Exhibition on Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques in Asia SIGGRAPH Asia 2010 will be held on 15-18 December 2010 in Seoul, Korea. The event will have courses providing invaluable learning opportunities in three formats: tutorials, half-day courses, and full-day courses. Attendees will learn principles and techniques from leading international experts, who present instructional sessions on a comprehensive range of computer graphics and interactive techniques: animation, modeling, rendering, software development, computer-human interaction, entertainment, gaming and scientific visualization.

Courses Highlights

Title: Geometry Simulation for Feature Films
Presenter: Lee Seunghun, Industrial Light & Magic
Course Overview: This course is to introduce how to make various simulations which use flesh mesh, cloth mesh and rigid body in VFX movie. Through this course you will get an idea that non-programmer artists can make simulation setup from the complex geometries using various techniques.

Title: Introduction to Processing on Android Devices
Presenter: Kim Jihyun, Anyang Public Art Project Foundation
Andres Colubri, Jeju National University
Course Overview: This course introduces the basics aspects of the Processing programming language and environment for the Android platform, as well as some more advanced topics such as OpenGL-accelerated 3D graphics and Android hardware, especially GPS and camera.

Title: "Gimmee Somethin‘ to Shoot": Filming the Cinematics Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty
Presenter: Jeff Chamberlain
Course Overview: Blizzard Entertainment‘s Film Department will be taking an in-depth look at both the artistic and technical aspects of storytelling from 2D concepts to presenting final artistic sequences on screen.
